February 2017 Update

With 2017 now well underway, we wanted to share a few exciting updates that reflect how we are taking our work to address youth unemployment to the next level this year. Learn more below about what we’ve been up to.

Generation is a program of the McKinsey Social Initiative

Our latest Impact

We’re obsessed with impact, and we have a new way to share what we’re learning.

In only two years, we’ve served 10,000 students across 92 sites in 31 cities in five countries. 83% of our graduates have found jobs and 86% continue to be employed in their first job three months out. And they now make 2 to 6 times the monthly salary they did before joining Generation. We are also becoming a reliable talent source for entry-level workers. Of our 1000+ employer partners worldwide, 98% would hire our graduates again and 88% say that our graduates perform better than their peers.

We have created a new Impact page on our website to share these and many other important outcomes. Take a look! We are learning a lot by tracking these results, and data is at the center of everything we do.

Partner Updates

Generation continues to build new strategic partnerships

United Way Worldwide and Generation have formed a partnership to bring Generation’s youth employment program to 30-50 new cities globally! United Way is the world’s largest privately-funded nonprofit, engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories. With a shared commitment to fostering economic opportunity—and complementary skills and experience—we are excited for how this new partnership will propel Generation forward. Learn more about our plans—and why we both think it’s so important we address youth employment—in the coming months.

Generation is proud to have been selected to be part of the Solutions for Youth Employment (S4YE) Impact Portfolio, with a focus on our work in India. S4YE—a coalition started by the World Bank—promotes transformative, scalable youth employment solutions around the world. We look forward to contributing to and learning from S4YE and the other participants.
